Swim Lessons and Coaching
To meet Mallory for the first time is to encounter the epitome of passion. At the age of 25 she has already climbed the ranks of marathon swimming to become one of the foremost experts in her sport. Standing at 5’8 and weighing in a lean 145 lbs it is hard to believe that she regularly pits herself against more experienced competitors, sweeping currents, and frigid waters……….and wins. After competing in her first open water race by chance over 14 years ago, Mallory knew that she had found her niche. Since then she has gone on to complete some of the most famous swims in the world, including becoming the 39th person in the world to complete the “Triple Crown” of open water swimming, the Manhattan Island Marathon Swim (28.5 miles), the Catalina Channel (21 miles), and the English Channel (21 miles).
Mallory has been giving private and group swim instruction since 2004. She is available for private lessons, clinics, and developing custom training plans, with a specialty in working with beginners and open water swimmers. While most of her availability is in the Los Angeles area, Mallory also travels to Indiana frequently and is available to travel to other states/regions as well. Whether you are looking to make your children water-safe, are looking to improve swim technique, want an experienced instructor to teach a clinic for your team, or are training for your first (or fiftieth!) triathlon, Mallory can help you meet your personal goals and have fun doing it! Mallory’s unique marathon swim expertise makes her ideal for training triathletes. She understands the time constraints on athletes, and the need to make each workout specific to target key goals. Mallory emphasises quality over quantity – this has been critical for me to feel fresh and rested before triathlons, instead of tired, sore, and over trained. After training with Mallory, I swim more efficiently so I get out of the water ready to bike and run. All triathletes would benefit from training with Mallory – I swim with many coaches – she is the coach I would recommend to friends that are trying to improve their swim technique.

“It is kind of hard to believe that 7 months ago, I didn’t enjoy swimming, and a trip to the pool was never much fun. I really appreciate all of your coaching, and how much you have helped me improve. I will look forward to following your swimming career (…) However, you should know that I will always consider your greatest swimming-related accomplishment to be transforming me from someone who was a drowning hazard into someone who loves to swim.”

“When my son Nickolas (4 at time when we took the lessons) started private swim lessons with Mallory, he was afraid to go underwater. In two lessons, Mallory had him diving and picking up toys from the bottom of the pool. This was his treat for doing a good job and following Mallory’s instructions. Mallory taught him not just how to tread water, but also how to swim legal strokes in free style, backstroke and breaststroke. My son is now 6 and swimming on a swim club. I recommended Mallory to all of my friends and family and would still do private lessons with her when she visits Indiana to improve my son strokes!”

I am a 64 year old active female who has rheumatoid arthritis since I was 30 years old.I can’t say enough about the way Mallory teaches, encourages, coaches, and challenges all with a positive attitude. She has a detailed knowledge about each stroke which has helped me to improve and accomplish more that I ever thought I could. By using drills, intervals, various distance workouts at different speeds, she keeps my interest in wanting to learn more. There is no boredom to the variety she brings to each swim session. She has the ability to meet each swimmer where we are in our ability levels. Mallory is truely someone I would highly recommend to coach adults or children.
