Fan of the Week 7/29
Posted on July 29, 2010
This week’s Fan of the Week comes from my own backyard. Enjoy!
Name: Herman Arrivillaga
Location: The Circle City, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
How I become a fan: Well, Mel Goldstein made a cyber introduction between Mallory and my wife Victoria Rian. The introduction was to welcome Mallory to the Morse Reservoir training group. Mallory fit right in with her extensive swimming background. Mallory did a great job in her debut as a race director for the Kid’s for Swim Sake. She is now my Open Water hero from Plymouth, Indiana.
One thing that everyone should know about me: I am married to a wonderful, patient and talented open water swimmer. She introduced me to lap swimming about three years ago. Right now, I am about 35 lbs. lighter than my highest weight ever. I have swum three 5K’s and one 2.5K. Also my cholesterol level no longer requires medication and my blood pressure is now in the healthy range so my Doctor is happy.
*The above photo is from the Swim For Kids’ Sake where Herman was the recipient of the “Pug Award.” To win the Pug Award one must amuse the race director. Winners get to take a picture with the hilarious ceramic elephant (which just so happened to be a birthday present to me from Herman).*
