Fundraising and T-Shirts
Its time to really buckle down and get going on the fundraising if I am going to be able to do all three swims I have planned for this summer. First, a little info on how my fundraising and my sponsorship works.
I am raising money for two children’s charities: the Riley Hospital for Children and the PLGA Foundation. 100% of all the money I raise goes to these two charities. My sponsor, the Endurance Trust, then matches a percentage of the money I raise on a sliding scale to go towards my swim fees. All donations go through the Endurance Trust for calculation and distribution, and since the Endurance Trust is a 501c3 organization, all donations are tax deductable. Therefore, for a tax-deductable donation, you can simultaneously give to children’s charities and help me live my dreams. Win-Win for everyone!
In addition to flat-out donations, I am putting on an open water swim and clinic to raise money, called the Swim For Kid’s Sake. I will post more information on SFKS very soon.
That brings me to my latest fundraising idea: t-shirts. Clara and I sold t-shirts for our channel swim in 2008 and earned enough money to pay the majority of our hotel costs for the trip, so there’s proof that t-shirt sales add up!
Here is the T-Shirt Design I have come up with, with some help from Matt Nelson from the Endurance Trust.

This design is a little small on the screen but it is a map with stars on all the swims in the Ocean’s Seven. At the top it says “The Endurance Trust Presents: Mallory Mead’s Oceans Seven Challenge Benefitting Riley Hospital for Children and the PLGA Foundation.” At the botton, it lists the Ocean’s Seven Swims and says “212.7km/131.6 mi of the Toughest Water on the Planet”. The design will be printed on White 100% Cotton teas and will run $18 for S-XL. Sizes XXL and larger can also be order on request for an additional fee. Like I said, all proceeds go to charity and help pay my swim fees!
So if you are interested in a cool t-shirt for a good cause, fill out the form on the sponsor page. I am not collecting payment until I have enough to place an order. I’m hoping to raise enough to purchase a plane ticket for the Marathon of Toroneos Gulf in Greece by April, otherwise I will not be able to attend. Thanks again for all of your support!

Hi Mallory,
I like your T-shirt idea and design. Please sign me up for one (XL) so I can where it to Morse this summer!
